CHARIS MINUTES
Becoming Healed – Hear Greg’s full answer below
In this Charis Minute, Greg Mohr answers the question of, ‘Does everyone get healed the same way’. Is healing a cookie-cutter process? Becoming healed doesn’t necessarily happen the same way for all of us. Some people may think they’ve missed it when they don’t see it happen for them the same as they saw someone else be healed. Greg has an encouraging word for us.
Well, healing is for everyone, but not everyone receives healing in the same way. For my son, Michael, he was diagnosed with a muscular arthritic condition. This sickness and disease raged for three months. That storm screamed at us every day, “Your son will never walk. He will never get better. He will die at a young age.” We couldn’t deny the reality of the circumstances and the fact that we were in a great storm. But we could deny that storm the right and authority to shape the ultimate outcome of Michael’s health—and our lives. Michael received healing by speaking and confessing the word. We played those scriptures over him 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
Becoming healed, sometimes there’s a need of refreshed vision
To maintain our focus on what God has promised regarding Michael’s health, my wife and I gathered three categories of Scriptures that we recited over him multiple times a day. About six weeks into this meaningful journey, my wife experienced a vision. She saw Michael joyfully running into the kitchen from our living room, calling out, “Mama! Mama! Mama!” At that time, he wasn’t able to crawl, walk, or even run.
The vision felt so vivid to Janice that she anticipated it would come to pass that very day. However, it didn’t happen then, or the following day, week, or even month. Yet, in a matter of months, that vision turned into reality. It became a guiding light for us, helping us focus on the hopeful promise of God’s Word rather than the limitations imposed by Michael’s current physical condition. How we perceive ourselves plays a vital role in our ability to receive God’s blessings.
Becoming healed – if I cursed my illness, why is it still occurring?
So Susan Ricci asked me,
If I have a big tumour on my eyelid and I’m standing for my healing, I thought it would stop growing once I received healing and cursed its roots. But it hasn’t. Where am I missing it?
You’re missing it by agreeing that you’re missing it. Stop focusing on what you can do or what you’re not doing, and focus on what Jesus has done. Focus on the Healer and His healing power, and focus on Him and let Him reveal His love to you.
Now, to stop focusing on that tumour can be difficult. I experienced the difficulty of doing that when I had a tumour in my neck. But if your heart is set on becoming healed, you need to just focus on the Lord. Meditate on His love for you, and you’re going to hear from God. Faith comes by hearing as you’re spending time with Him and spending time in His word. He’ll quicken to your heart if there’s something that you need to do to cooperate with His healing power.
