CHARIS MINUTES
Will God bring me back to His Will?
In this Charis Minute, Andrew Wommack answers the question, ‘Will God bring me back to His Will?’ whilst highlighting the importance of obedience to God and the potential for redemption and restoration for those who turn back to Him. Believers should strive to avoid sin and seek a closer relationship with God to experience the fullness of life He offers.
When you make poor decisions by not obeying God, will God bring you back to His will? Can we believe there is still a chance for us to fulfil it? The answer is absolutely yes. The Bible says in Romans 11:29 that the gifts and the callings of God are without repentance. We can trust that God does not desire to turn away from what He has called you to.
Will God Bring Me Back To His Will and Purpose?
You know, if you can get a GPS to help you when you make a wrong turn, and it recalculates and comes up with an alternative. I mean, it doesn’t matter what wrong turn you take; the GPS will find a way for you to get back on track. If GPS can do that, I guarantee you God can get you back on track, and the gifts and the callings of God are without repentance.
Now, that doesn’t mean you automatically see everything work because there are consequences. I’m thinking of Jimmy Swaggart, who had the largest ministry in the world at one time in history. It was probably 20 or 30 years ago, and he was bringing in $8 million a month into his ministry, which was unmatched by any other ministry at that time.
Take comfort knowing that God can make a path for you back to His will
Then, at a period of time in his life, he went through trials and had a tryst with a sex worker, and it became public. Do you know what? God forgave him, and he’s been in ministry up until his death in July 2025. People continued to receive from his ministry and become born again right until the end. Consequently, though, he reached a fraction of the people that he used to before his tryst. So can God bring you back to His will and purpose, yes, but there are consequences. People lost their confidence in him, and rightfully so. So avoid the road of disobedience to avoid the consequences of losing people’s trust.
Will God Bring Me Back to His Will today?
What’s so powerful about the love of God is that if we are in disobedience and we are a born-again believer, there is hope. When we turn from the flesh and turn back to the things of the Spirit, God can redeem and restore the things that you bring to Him in prayer. Having a sense that all is made right again may not happen overnight, and there might be consequences along the way that you have to ask God to touch, heal, and restore. If you do something and lose your marriage and lose your family, you aren’t going to get them back necessarily if they have gone on and remarried. The kids will grow up, and you may not get the thriving relationship you wanted with them, but God will love you, and He’ll restore you.
God’s will is to forgive and realign you with His will
Whatever God’s called you to do, He’s still got a way for you to accomplish it. The enemy will aim to ruin your reputation, and there may be lasting effects of that even after God restores you. The enemy wants to kill, steal and destroy your reputation. Jesus came to give you life abundantly, and you have a choice for an abundant life or a different version of what you think is life.
It’s your decision. God loves us and has forgiven us of our sins, and His judgment was placed upon Jesus. So God will not reject you over your sin if you’ve made Jesus your Lord. But sin will still take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay. You should not be living in sin as much as possible. Get out of it now.
