CHARIS MINUTES

What Does God’s Love For Me Look Like?

In this Charis Minute, Carrie Pickett reflects on the transformative power of understanding God’s love, which enables individuals to rise after mistakes and fosters a healthy perspective that is not dependent on societal validation. Though Carrie acknowledges the pain and disappointments associated with troubled human relationships, she reassures us God’s love is assured and healing. Carrie underscores that faith is activated by the awareness of God’s love, which empowers believers to claim promises and overcome adversities, including physical ailments.

God’s love for me is a home

Love came to make His home within me. So that means as I’m living this life, I am loved of God because He will never leave me and He will never forsake me. So no matter what happens, I am loved. If I allow this love to truly be a reality in me, then when I make mistakes, I’m able to jump back up because what I’m leaning on is the love of God.

I’m Being Taught God’s Love For Me

I’m being taught by the love of God and its causing me to have a shift in perspective. I don’t have to be constantly thinking, what does the world think of me? Love lives inside of me. I am so adored. So I want to look at this in Hebrews chapter 12 and in verse 2. In the New King James, it says this,

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

This is what is so beautiful about Jesus being the author and the finisher of our faith. Can I tell you this reality, this revelation of God’s love is part of our faith walk. jesus is the author of His love towards you. He’s the author of you having faith in that he loved you and was the propitiation for your sins. He is the author and finisher of our faith. So if you have been thinking that being loved by God was just the goosebumps, and that the effect is always being positive and chirpy, then there’s more for you to discover. If we’ve put the world standard on God’s love, well, then this is where we are saying,

Lord, thank you that you’re the perfecter, the finisher and You are bringing me out of deception into revelation of what Your love is.

A Revelation of God’s Love For Me

This is an exciting place to be in pursuit of a deeper revelation of God’s love. It’s not supposed to be a one-time revelation ever. The love of God and who He is, is so big, so grand, so broad. God’s love is so consuming and He’s inviting you into a growing relationship of that revelation all the time.

What does God's love for me look like in my faith

Love energises my faith

Our faith works by love. What does this mean? Does it mean we’ll have our prayers answered by how well we we love God and others? No, no, no, no. Faith worketh by love, meaning our faith is activated when we know that God loves us. You know what? God loves me. So you know what? Because He loved me, he died for me.

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Galatians 5:6

Jesus died for me, he shed his blood for me and because He shed His blood for me by His stripes, I was healed. That love is shown there on the cross. That love made manifest towards me you know what it does? Now I can tap into that no matter what my physical body’s feeling. So you know what? I’m loved. So this sickness, you don’t have any authority in my body. I’m loved of God. How dare you touch my body? How dare you touch my family? Don’t you know I’m loved of God?

These promises are birthed out of Love Himself. When God speaks to me in His Word and give me a promise, it’s because He loves me. Now when you look at these promises of God, now it’s a possessor attitude energised by His love.

I don’t know your story

Every one of us has one. There may have been disappointments. Possibly there was failures, specifically when it comes to love, what you thought love should look like, what love shouldn’t look like. There’s trauma and there’s possibly drama that’s even currently happening in your life. You may feel frustrated. The enemy has tried to steal what love is and the demonstration and the definition of love.

Can I tell you today, no matter what has happened to you in your life, no matter what your story is, no matter what your level of loneliness, failure, or rejection is…no matter what kind of abuse that you may have suffered at what people or the world called love. God is bigger than all of those things. He is not like the relationships you’ve ever had. So stop judging God’s ability to love you by what you’ve experienced in the past or what you’re frustrated with right now.

This revelation of God’s love can heal everything you let it touch.

I want to invite you into letting God’s love touch those places, holding out all your disappointment, all of your failures, all of the hurt, all of the things that you’ve just trained so hard to protect because you don’t want to get hurt again. If you hand that to God, I guarantee you, it’s not going to be like the hope you’ve put in another person and then they disappoint you. God does not have your hope, your faith towards him deferred. It does not make your heart sick. Why? Because who He is towards you today is consistent. It’s never changed.
