CHARIS MINUTES
The desire for good things to come quickly in our lives is understandable. It is common to feel the need to have all the answers during times of delay. How can we find peace and distinguish God’s timing? Dive into this insightful Charis Minute with Barry Bennett as he shares his perspective on the question, ‘How do you discern God’s timing?’.
How do you discern God’s timing?
We go through seasons in life in which we grow in each season and some things that we will get to experience in a further season down the road that we are currently too immature for now. This is important to keep in mind.
Consider an apple tree. The productivity of an apple tree sapling is minimal, next to nothing. When it is fully grown into a tree, it has come to the season of its life where it can produce apples. There is nothing wrong with it as a seed or as a sapling but it’s not there yet. It’s not producing fruit. It’s the same in our Christian walk.
How do you discern God’s timing in the Christian walk
We will go through phases in life in which we’re not there yet. We’re not ready yet to produce the fruit that God has in mind. So how do we transition between seasons? If we keep concentrating on our roots going down deep into the Word of God and we stay filled with the Spirit, we stay full of the Word of God, then we will move through seasons in which we have different levels of productivity.
So when thinking about how do you discern God’s timing, you need to be thinking about understanding His true nature. You discern God’s timing by staying in the Word of God and listening for the Holy Spirit’s lead. Focusing on being fruitful in the current season prepares you for the next season to arrive.
