CHARIS MINUTES
Grace To Overcome: How God’s Power Works Within You
In this Charis Minute, Rick McFarland emphasises the importance of recognising and acknowledging this grace to overcome in order to unlock its transformative power in our lives. As we explore the nature of grace, we will uncover how it provides strength and guidance in our journey of faith.
Understanding Grace to Overcome Challenges
So God’s grace, that’s declared before every letter. The beginning of that letter is basically saying that you’re going to have all the power that you need to do everything written after that verse one or verse two, everything that is told us to do in each of the letters of the New Testament, we have grace for it. That’s God’s ability to do it. Second Corinthians 12:9 says,
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
I want to bring out the fact that the use of “is” in this verse means grace is present tense. God didn’t say, “Well, Paul, ask me for grace when you need it, and it will become sufficient for you”
The Role of Faith in Experiencing Grace to Overcome
God didn’t say, “Paul, I promise you, I’m going to give you my grace.” He says, “My grace is sufficient.” That’s why His grace is always flowing to you whenever you need it. Just acknowledge it, tap into it by faith. So how do you do that? By revelation, as you meditate on the Word, as you see what God’s given to you, by faith you speak God’s word, you act on God’s Word.
When we activate our faith, grace is released from the spirit into the natural. This is how you experience God’s grace to overcome. Our faith will be effective when we acknowledge the grace of God that’s in us already. So the river of grace is constantly flowing to us. If we receive it by faith, it will cause us to be carried and lifted over our weakness.
Grace to overcome is within us
Philemon 1:6, ESV, says,
and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.
You know, every good thing that’s in us speaks of God’s grace, and so His grace is in us. It brings everything good that God has in us, but to see it, we have to first acknowledge it. Having grace to overcome encapsulates the transformative journey of embracing God’s grace in our lives. By acknowledging and tapping into God’s divine power, we find the spiritual strength necessary to confront and overcome challenges that may arise. God’s grace not only empowers us to navigate difficult circumstances but also facilitates healing and growth. As we continue to meditate on His word and act in faith, we deepen our understanding of the abundant grace that is ever-present, guiding us toward victory and fulfilment in our daily lives. Embracing this grace to overcome allows us to transcend our weaknesses, ultimately leading to a richer and more purposeful existence rooted in faith.
