Giving – a sign of maturity

Jan 25, 2023

I’ve been ministering a long time, I’ve seen people come and go.
I’ve seen people who would shout and run with excitement over their giving one day, and gripe about an offering the next! You know what? I’ve found that a lot of people are a mile wide and an inch deep. There’s just not much to them. The first time they have a little bit of trouble, they fall by the wayside.
But one thing I’ve seen is that people who truly have a revelation of giving live to give. I mean, they are fanatical, rabid, committed givers. That is a sign of maturity.
It is a mark of maturity when you get this revelation and are committed to giving. You don’t just do it when it’s convenient; you are committed to it. Radical giving is evidence of the grace of God. It’s a supernatural revelation.

God’s Word says:

  • It’s more blessed to give than it is to receive. (Acts 20:35)

That doesn’t mean you won’t receive. You definitely will. Just look at the next point!

  • Give, and it will come back to you. (Luke 6:38)

This verse goes on to say “good measure, pressed down and running over…” is how it will come back to you!

  • God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

The first part of this verse says to give as you purpose in your heart, not grudgingly or out of necessity. That’s how those “mile wide, inch deep” people give!

When you get a revelation of how awesome it is to give, you just make a commitment and do it. It’s non-negotiable. It doesn’t even matter if it looks like it’s to your detriment. You are not going to change. It is what the Word says to do.
Man, when we get that attitude and live it, it really shows the grace of God in our hearts and His provision in our lives!
