CHARIS MINUTES

Freedom From Sin

In this Charis Minute, Greg Mohr explores freedom from sin. Emphasis is placed on God’s love, which surpasses any sin or struggles individuals may face, encouraging listeners to approach God with confidence and without shame, even after failures. He highlights the compassionate nature of Jesus as a High Priest who understands human weaknesses and invites believers to seek mercy and grace in times of need. Mohr stresses that true freedom from sin comes from running towards God rather than away from Him, asserting that bringing one’s challenges into God’s presence can lead to healing and deliverance. Ultimately, he reassures that God’s love and support are always available, urging individuals to embrace this divine relationship for strength and restoration.

The Journey to Freedom from Sin

My name is Greg Mohr, and we’re talking about how God’s love for you is greater than sin in your life. It’s greater than any strongholds, any temptations, any struggles that you’ve had. Understanding His love for you will annihilate sin and strongholds in your life.

An Assurance Of A Compassionate High Priest

Hebrews 4:15-16 states,

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

So Jesus is our compassionate High Priest. He’s compassionate toward us, knowing what it’s like to be tempted whenever we do yield to those things that we didn’t understand we had power accessible to overcome.

Freedom from Sin in God’s Presence

He wants us to come boldly, with confidence and without shame. In other words, knowing that He won’t condemn us. He wants us to just come boldly to the throne of grace whenever we do fall, whenever we do fail, whenever we do mess up royally, for the umpteenth time by the way.

The Gift of Mercy and Grace: Freedom from Sin

Okay, we can be certain of obtaining two things: mercy, which is God withholding from us what we deserve, and then grace, God giving to us what we don’t deserve.

In Revelation 3:20, it says,

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

He’s talking to Christians there. He’s on the inside, in your spirit, knocking on the door of your soul. The soul is part of your heart. And He’s saying, “Look, would you let me in? Even every dirty laundry drawer and closet of your soul?” Psalms 100, verse four says,

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

So thanksgiving and praise assist our souls in drawing near to the Lord instead of drawing back.

Embracing God’s Love: The Key to Freedom from Sin

What does Matthew 11:28-30 say?

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

He said my yoke is easy. My burden is light. Come to Me. Here’s your answer for experiencing freedom from sin! This is your answer for when you mess up with your soul and your hands are dirty, and you’re double-minded, and you’ve got sin and all kinds of things. He said, “Come to Me, draw near to Me.” That’s the way you cleanse your hands, and you’ll find mercy there at the throne of God. In the presence of God, you’ll find grace.

It’s in His presence that we obtain Freedom From Sin

You’ll find His grace extended to cleanse your hands, to deliver you from that sin. You don’t overcome sin by running from Him. The lesson we learn from this is that sin and evil, the devil and strongholds cannot stand before the presence of God. All of that is going to be broken off in your life if you run to the Lord, not away from Him.

Finding Rest: Freedom from Sin Through Christ

The only way to get free is to come as you are and bring the problem, the challenge, the stronghold, the struggle. Bring it to God, and it too will fall; it’ll be broken, it’ll perish. It’ll break and be demolished in God’s presence. This is so powerful. If you’ve been struggling, if you’ve had challenges, His love is greater than your sin. Run to the Father. God’s presence in your life is your answer for freedom from sin, my brother and sister. His love for you and His arms are extended to you.
