God Engages Us: The Depth of His Love and Care in Psalm 139

You know, God is the most engaged person in your life. God engages us and cares more about your success and my success than even we do. I will say this unapologetically: it is absolutely the truth. I look at Psalm 139, verse 16 [ESV], where the psalmist writes,

Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me,     when as yet there was none of them.

No matter how much hair you have, every hair on your head is labelled and numbered because of how much God engages us and loves us. If we were to count the thoughts that God has towards us, they would outnumber the sands of the sea.

God Engages Us: Experiencing Healing, Joy, and Peace Through His Grace

The grace of God leads us into a deeper relationship with the Lord, so that before you know it, we walk in complete healing. We walk in complete joy. We walk in complete peace. Our circumstances may not change, but what has changed is our insides—who we are. This grace for grace reflects God actively engaging with you and me, drawing us deeper into His presence so we can experience more and more of Him. God engages us to draw us into a relationship with Him.

Jesus said something similar in John 6:44 [ESV],

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

I believe that God has drawn all of us into a relationship with Him. Second Peter 3:9 reveals that it is God’s will that none should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

God Engages Us: Embracing His Grace for a Deeper Relationship and Healing

God desires for all of us to enter into a relationship with Him. That is God’s will. Because of this, God has given every single one of us the grace that has appeared to all men—the opportunity to step into His grace, His salvation, and a greater revelation of who He is.

Look at what it says at the end of John 1:16,

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

This concept truly resonates with me. I reflect on that fullness and how incredible it is—the amazing fullness of God that He has afforded us in our lives. Yet, sometimes we wonder, “How do I get my healing? How do I walk in this righteousness? How do I trust in the Lord when these circumstances come my way?”

What this reveals is that the grace God has given us allows us to step into that grace again. God engages us and is more active in our lives than we have ever realised. He empowers us to step boldly into the grace He has already provided for us. He draws us by His grace. Therefore, it is important that we renew our minds, not based on how the world sees God, but based on the Word of God and His goodness. This covenant of grace invites you and me into a relationship with Him.
