Living in the Spirit

Feb 7, 2022

The greatest challenge in our Christian walk is that of learning to live in the Spirit.

We have become so comfortable with the logic of our minds, the memories of the past, the circumstances of the world, and our own emotions that hearing the Spirit can seem difficult.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: ‘Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts…’

Hebrews 3:7-8

Much of what we call ministry today is from the soul and to the soul. We rely on feelings, and we walk by sight. Much of our prayer comes from our emotions. Living and praying from the Spirit is a mystery to many Christians.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

John 16:13

True life and ministry must be born of the Spirit. Our spirit man needs to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. The Spirit will stir us to pray in true faith, have words of knowledge and wisdom, and gifts of healing and miracles.

As long as we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed with and distracted by feelings, we will struggle to live by the Spirit and from our spirits.

This is the reason so many Christians are frustrated.

These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1 Corinthians 2:13-14

Whether or not we are born again, we can choose to live as natural men. This is why so many miss out on the promises of God. It is the Spirit that reveals and activates the promises in our lives.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

1 Corinthians 2:12

Decide today to walk in the Spirit, pray in the Spirit, and expect the Spirit of God to lead you and reveal truth to you.
